We’re Peter and Emma Down, and farming is not just our livelihood – it’s our way of life. As a 4th generation family farm, working together as a family is at the centre of everything we do. The knowledge, values and traditions passed down through the generations shape how we care for our animals and our land today.
We proudly run a pedigree Hereford suckler herd, alongside a mixed selection of native breed cattle and our pedigree Large Black pigs. Everything we do is rooted in care, hard work and pride in producing quality food.

Our Produce
Our Herefords are the heart of the farm. We focus on strong maternal lines, calm temperament and cattle that thrive on a grass-based system.
Alongside our pedigree herd, we keep a variety of native breeds chosen for their hardiness and the quality of beef they produce — perfectly suited to our Devon countryside.
Our Large Blacks are a traditional British breed, known for their character and fantastic flavour. They are raised with space, care and respect.

We’re proud to be out and about supporting our local community and catering at special events throughout the year.
Our catering trailer will be at Duchy College supporting Lamerton Pony Club.
Catering for a wedding in Braunton, serving afternoon tea followed by pulled pork and burgers in the evening.
Our catering trailer will be at Barnstaple Town Football Club for a Celebrity Football Match raising money for Young Lives vs Cancer.
We are proud to be part of The Great British Farm Fest. We’ll be selling our produce and promoting our campsite and new website.
We are very much looking forward to hosting the very first wedding at Evergreen Farm, with the campsite hired out, a marquee in place, and our catering trailer on site – a very special milestone for our family farm.

We have our own onsite cutting room, meaning we prepare our beef and pork ourselves with full traceability from field to fork.

This was our first camping trip & we couldn't have picked a better site.
Soft flat ground with big pitches, super clean toilet/shower block.
There's a well supplied farm shop on site albeit with limited opening times selling cold/hot drinks, their own meat & various snacks.
This is perfect for a detox, no arcades, clubhouse or bar so no risk of people being drunk & rowdy.
We're absolutely gutted that our trip came to an end & we are already planning on returning!
